Liana is currently a Strategy and Operations Consultant with Global Health Media Project.
After graduating from college Liana served as a Community Development Worker in the Peace Corps in Costa Rica.
She has worked in the health care and public health sectors in Rhode Island and Massachusetts holding various positions focused on veterans health issues, public health in low income communities, reproductive health and healthcare technology.
Liana graduated from the University of Connecticut with a BA in Communications and a BA in Spanish. She holds a Masters degree in Public Health from Boston University and an MBA from Simmons College.
Liana and her husband, Larson Gunness, came to Rhode Island from the Boston area and have raised their family in Barrington. Their children, Jamie and Maria, have attended Barrington Public Schools and are currently both students at Barrington High School. As a family they have been involved in the town's running community and have been active supporters of the Bay Spring Community Center.
Community service and activism have always been a priority for Liana. She has been a volunteer with the Barrington Public Schools and Moms Demand Action among other groups. She is currently co-Chair of the Barrington Democratic Town Committee and continues to be an active volunteer with Women's Fund of Rhode Island after serving on the Board for 10 years.
